Travel Diary: The rest of the trip!

Wednesday was spent at the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery....sorry, no pictures, my camera battery died on me.  The National Gallery was "wow"! We spent so much time at the National Gallery, there was only a little time at the Portrait Gallery....next time.
We decided to take a day trip to Paris.  Halfway to Paris on the Eurostar, we were told that the workers were on strike, and the Louvre was closed.  What a disappointment!

We decided to join a tour to see the sites.  The first stop was a
photo-op in front of the Eiffel Tower----who can leave Paris without one?

We got to look at a lot of things, but many were closed due to the strike.

Notre Dame was lovely, and thankfully, open.  The cathedral was lit by natural light for the most part, with a level of artificial lighting indicating candle light. The lighting set a mood for Notre Dame that was unlike the other cathedrals we visited on this trip.  We continued our practice of lighting candles for our fathers.

It's Friday and time to go home, but there's time for a short trip to Westminster Abbey and a couple photos of Big Ben.

Westminster Abbey was breathtaking and HUGE!  It was a interesting to see the tombs-----Mary, Queen of Scotts, Elizabeth I, etc.

It's hard to say what I enjoyed the most----each day brought something new and exciting.

Time to start planning for the next trip!
